I am no Puneet

There is a guy named Puneet out there who looks like me. How do I know about that? Well, let me tell you a story.

I entered this metro and stood to one side knowing very well that it will get crowded soon. After five minutes I realize that this guy sitting on a seat is staring at me, I look at him and he hesitates and then looks away. Then I notice him looking at me again, he is looking at me in the manner of enquiry and I realize that. So I plan to ignore him and continue standing, looking around and observing people.

After a while, he points towards me and says- “Tumhara naam Puneet hai kya?” (Is your name Puneet?), I tell him no and he is like um..Okay. Believe me., he was a little disappointed but that is again life. It is full of disappointments but let’s not get into that. I turned out and laughed it was funny for me.

Well, Mr. Puneet I am not really sure if we look alike or not but that guy did confuse me with you.

Well, Mr. Puneet I am not really sure if we look alike or not but that guy did confuse me with you.
I wish you good luck and I wish that gentleman good luck and he may find you very soon.

*Raises glass* To Puneet and to me!

Bye! my friends, until next random entry here. And yep see this photograph too. 🙂

Comic #3, Return of the Awkward Man

So when you have this desire to make comics but no drawing skills, what do you do?
Most people give up, they give up their dream of making comics. I had given up too until I thought let’s make them on devices like mobiles/computers and let’s make them stupid. Let’s not care about how weird and incomplete they look, just put them out there and let people see. Some will like, some will laugh, some will be like this guy should never do this.

So, I made and posted them here last year in December and the response was good/positive. So I made one again.

Here it is, the return of the Awkward Man. Check Comic #1 and Comic #2 ( don’t worry, the pages will open in new tab).

1
The Awkward Man enters the frame and does not notice you
2
The Awkward Man does something that is really awkward
3
The Awkward Man realized how awkward he is and rushes out

Let me know how if you any opinions/suggestions/comments/anything?

That call

None of them believed me, for the thing I told them was of a very strange nature. Most of the people would have never heard such a thing and imagining it was beyond the capability of many. After I was done speaking, I realized my throat was dry and the strange silence had enveloped us all. Suddenly the telephone rang and broke the silence and the occupants of the room looked at each other with puzzled looks wondering who would be calling at this odd hour.

Mr. Anderson finally got up from his comfortable leather chair and picked up the phone, relieving us of the terrible sound. He said ‘Hello’, and then exclaimed how could this be possible? I soon realized that he wasn’t talking to the caller but to all of us in the room.

Things were beyond the level of my belief, the confusion was now overwhelming and the face of Mr. Anderson told another story which we all were guessing now. I could now see the tension and the fear building up amongst the occupants and realized that I wasn’t only one afraid in the room. This thought was both comforting and scary in a way.

Good to be back

Right, I just have to remind myself that this is a personal blog and I can actually write about anything and everything. I don’t have to put much thought to things here. I will just write here and maybe someone will read it and form an opinion or they will simply ignore it. See that’s the great thing about having a blog like this, you are free to write and post complete random stuff. I write poetry, short stories and what not right here.

So, last say 15 days have been really weird for me, I’ll tell you that I had to undergo a surgery called Septoplasty. So, it is a surgery where the deviated nasal septum is removed( in my case it was removed, a six inch long bone).

Now before the surgery, I was pretty cool since this was my second and I thought this would be less painful than the earlier ones. Oh man, I have never been this wrong in life, this was really uncomfortable. Now I know that I should write a post about the surgery and what to expect and what not and that might actually help people who might be considering going in for this surgery. Super stuffy and an irritated nose and yeah I started bleeding from the nose as well when they removed the packaging from the nose. Had to keep the bandage for a few more days which was painful but not as much as receiving a catheter down your nose(and into your sinus cavity I guess) for suction because believe me that is painful.

I haven’t read a book after the surgery, mainly because my head was throbbing and I had to wipe the blood that usually drained from my nose for a few days after the surgery. Now that is over, my nose continues to heal, my breathing will get better with time and the problem I had will hopefully be solved. I now have no NASAL SEPTUM and no TONSILS.

Plans now is to get back to work and to read and write and breathe more. That was me and my condition, how about you?

Kebab Shop

I clicked this photo on 22nd of February 2016. Transferred it to PC and forgot about it until today when I decided to revisit the photographs I clicked this year. Converted it into black and white and made some light corrections and uploaded it on 500px. After an hour, I started wondering why not post this on the blog and write something about it.

Photo was well received on 500px and that restored my confidence in this photograph. Tell me if you like it and tell me even if you don’t like it.

Buses and even odd

There is odd-even happening in Delhi between 15th – 30th April. Cars with even numbers are allowed on even dates and odd numbered cars on odd dates. This means a large number of people start using buses and other public transport. Now, most buses are usually crowded almost on every work day but it is my belief that it gets worse during this phase. This morning I boarded a super crowded bus because I had no other options, I simply didn’t know when the other one would come and I was getting late.

I grabbed the door and got into the bus and couldn’t go far because there was no space and everyone stood in weird positions, just a few kilometers and it might get better was my thought. But then comes the next stop and some people board the bus and surprisingly I see myself moving inside, one leg moves and then two others and yes I am now in the middle with my bag in my hand and I navigate and find a position that is comfortable enough for me so I can stand with my head free but I was sandwiched for most of the journey. This sums up the journey I guess.

Now coming to the photograph. I took this other night while returning home. I was late and the bus wasn’t crowded, so I read The Book Thief for a while and then I started taking photographs. I am almost done with that book and might even write something about it. Next, I am going to pick up Sherlock Holmes!

Into the night

In the silent night
She moves on her toes
Careful not to make
Any sound or
The wolves will know
And she would never
Be able to out run the wolves.

He looks for her
In the dead night
A howl in the distance
And that’s the only sound
Besides the crunching of snow
Under his feet.

She can’t yell or
She will pull too much
Of attention and
He can’t help but
Worry and look.
She now hopes that
The sun will rise soon
And her anguish will finish
Maybe he will find her

But the night is long
And it only got dark
It was time for the wolves
To hunt now
To hunt and haunt
Those who escaped their master.

Outside the window

DSC_0001

I was looking out the window and this is what it looked like. The auto-rickshaws, cars and buses passed by and I looked at all of them. I looked at the bus that went towards the capital of India and saw several faces sitting inside the bus, some were tired and sleepy, some looked out of their windows eagerly and tried to capture the details of the small city called Moradabad and some were actually sleeping and had no interest in the view outside the vehicle.

It was a matter of 30-40 minutes and the clock showed time as 11 in the night and the sound of announcements of railway station started getting more clearer and I could hear the lady announcing that a particular train will be arriving at the station on No. 2 platform in 10 minutes and the train on No. 3 platform was about to leave. By now the street was completely empty and I turned around and closed the window and sat on the sofa and breathed the humid air of the hotel room. It was time to sleep.

Man behind the door

I had been sitting on the sofa for some hours now with my laptop in front of me with no charge left. I had been without electricity for hours now and had been sitting in complete darkness. I heard someone climb the stairs and they sound seemed to stop right in front of my door, I expected a knock but it did not come and everything went silent, same as a few minutes ago. The only difference was that this time the silence wasn’t comforting and I had my doubts.

I got up from the sofa and went to the door silently, like a burglar in my own house and very careful with sound. I put my ear on the door and tried to listen and heard some sounds, someone was whispering on the phone or might be talking to himself but then someone else spoke too. By the time I was sure they had some motive and I tried to listen more carefully and pressed my ear against the door. They talked for some time with faint voices and I couldn’t make any sense of it. Then they stopped talking and everything went silent once again and  one of them knocked on the door and I jumped back.

I had to draw a long breath before going towards the door again and heard another knock and I slowly undid the lock and opened the door. There stood two men, their faces not visible in the dark, then one of them stepped ahead and said – “Hey, we are your neighbors. Do you have an extra candle?”

That’s all folks. 🙂

P.S. Copied it from my diary, wrote it earlier in the evening.

That house

Entry 1

The weather is cold and it is a moonless night. The wind is fierce tonight and I hear a wolf howl somewhere in the distance.

I am writing from the haunted house where I have been stuck for weeks now. There are no doors and I see no way out but I find food on the dining table everyday and all the other necessary things one might need.
To be honest with you I find this place nice but I would need someone with me here because it gets alone and the days seem like years.
I hear people going about in the hall when I try to sleep in my room but I never see anyone in the house.

Entry 2

Little did I know that it was me all this time. I was dead and that was a normal house, there were people alive there but they couldn’t see me like I couldn’t see them.

You must wonder how did I arrive at this conclusion and I must tell you about it ……
