From the other side

IMG_2319-2.jpg

This is a hospital window that you are seeing in the photograph. A nurse stands with her back to the window and by my guess, it looks like a shared ward. A million patients would have been in that ward and made it alive while a lot of them would have succumbed to their failing hearts? Oh well, life is a strange thing- lovely and sad both.

Find a bit of joy, smile often and spend your remaining days being the human you’d really want to be (unless you were planning to be a villain). Also, this is not one of those motivational posts but hey I am just addressing those who doubt themselves, who think they can’t do things because I have been one myself.

How have you been?

Stories behind the photographs

So, they say that every photograph should tell a story and that it should talk or it should make one wonder. Now the thing is I like to get feedback from people who show interest in the photographs that I show to them, I like hearing their views and opinions and it also tells me who they are or what do they notice and prefer.

A lot of people, friends have told me and asked me to write something about every photograph that I showcase to the world. Keeping that in mind, from now on I am going to write something either about the photograph or how I took it. I now have two windows open- on one, I am writing this post and the other one has this photo (see below).

I randomly decided to take the camera to work with the hope that I might click something nice, so I mounted my favorite lens i.e. Nikon 50mm f1.8 and kept the camera in my bag.

Today I was certain that during my small breaks I was going to use the camera and click some pictures and there was a phone lying next to the lens cap and I snapped a few shots. The picture below it is of the book which I started reading a day earlier, it’s called Blind Willow Sleeping Woman by Haruki Murakami. Now, everyone takes a picture where the book is in focus and everything is nice and visible so I though let’s blur our that part and focus on something else. Once I got back home, I uploaded the photographs on my laptop and started cleaning them up (like color adjustments, crop etc.) and these are one that I managed to take nicely.

From now on with every photograph, I plan to write something.

Hope you enjoyed reading. Let me know and share your captures as well.

House Sparrow

My new telephoto lens had been in the camera bag for a while. I was almost thinking that buying that wasn’t a good decision and the investment wasn’t wise. So, today when I woke up I saw that the weather was nice and the birds usually came to the balcony to eat/take the grains of rice. I grabbed my camera and got on the floor, half on the balcony and half inside and aimed my camera at these little birds. Over 50 photographs and I get a few good ones. I am sharing them here with you all. 🙂

Fast- Photo post

Do back seats of cars have the ability to make you think differently? After clicking this photograph, I started wondering how fast life is going, we all are in a race. We are constantly moving, running and competing. The word purpose makes almost no sense to me now.

That makes me wonder- What is your purpose or aim in life? What are you running after and what is it that you want to achieve?

Enjoy the photograph while you ponder and wonder-

And yeah I need an answer 😉

Time- Photo Post

I was writing late at night.Books, diaries and pens were scattered on my table. I thought of taking some photographs, the only source of light was the lamp and it looked perfect. After taking some photographs of what I had written, I thought of taking photographs of other things and after a few clicks, I got this one.

Kebab Shop

I clicked this photo on 22nd of February 2016. Transferred it to PC and forgot about it until today when I decided to revisit the photographs I clicked this year. Converted it into black and white and made some light corrections and uploaded it on 500px. After an hour, I started wondering why not post this on the blog and write something about it.

Photo was well received on 500px and that restored my confidence in this photograph. Tell me if you like it and tell me even if you don’t like it.

A book you want to finish

Page 410- “The kind of a book that you want to finish but you also want to read slowly”

I finished reading The Book Thief yesterday. Now imagine, completing a book like this when you are in public and that too in an almost overcrowded metro. A wrong decision there but I had to complete those last 50 pages because if I didn’t do that then I would have got time to read only late at night.

Something about the book- Just a short story about a girl called Liesel Meminger and believe me you’d want to read it. And this one won’t take much time! Why? Because you will find yourself turning pages, or scrolling if you read on electronic devices. An amazing journey with many different characters that I will remember for a long time. Would really recommend it.

Here is one photograph I took when I was reading it late at night- view it in HD here.

Outside the window

DSC_0001

I was looking out the window and this is what it looked like. The auto-rickshaws, cars and buses passed by and I looked at all of them. I looked at the bus that went towards the capital of India and saw several faces sitting inside the bus, some were tired and sleepy, some looked out of their windows eagerly and tried to capture the details of the small city called Moradabad and some were actually sleeping and had no interest in the view outside the vehicle.

It was a matter of 30-40 minutes and the clock showed time as 11 in the night and the sound of announcements of railway station started getting more clearer and I could hear the lady announcing that a particular train will be arriving at the station on No. 2 platform in 10 minutes and the train on No. 3 platform was about to leave. By now the street was completely empty and I turned around and closed the window and sat on the sofa and breathed the humid air of the hotel room. It was time to sleep.

As the smoke rose up

I think I could have done a better job if I had my camera with me but anyway I like this photograph I took. Looks like a scene from some movie, where a bad guy is standing at a train signal and waits for the train to pass. As he waits, he is smoking a cigarette or a cigar as I like to imagine. Tell me if this photograph triggers a story in your head as well. Now I could write a story on it and it would go like this-

He had committed a heinous crime and after that he rose up from the ground and kicked the body and grabbed the curtain to clean his hand. After cleaning his hands and removing the blood, he took his phone out and called someone and said, “I am coming out.”

He came out and found his friend waiting with a motorbike and they both nodded their head. He then took the motorbike from his partner and drove it away from the town and arrived at a railway crossing. As he waited for the train to pass, he took out a cigarette and lit it, hoping that it would take some of his headache away.

I hope you liked what I wrote. It would be great if you could avoid looking at the mistakes if I made some. Let me know your views. 🙂

Inside the lane

image

“Inside the lane” as I like to call this photograph. I wanted to go to a shop and one of the Dates(khujoor) vendor told me there is a shortcut from one side. I took the way and entered here, the lane that took me to a bazaar that was so crowded that you’d have to struggle to move from one shop to another.  The amazing thing here is that when you look at this photograph you see silence, peace and stillness while there is a crowd moving about just outside this gate.
